RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING

Responsible Gambling

At Fortune Favours, we celebrate the ritual and symbolism of lucky charms, but we also recognise that gambling carries real risks. Our products are intended as novelty items and personal keepsakes—not as tools that influence the outcome of any game of chance.

Gambling can be addictive and destructive. Please play responsibly.

Self-Exclusion: A Powerful Tool

If you feel your gambling is out of control, you can request to be excluded from all legal gambling premises in South Africa .

How it works:

  1. Contact the casino or gambling operator's security department and request a self-exclusion form.
  2. The operator will submit the form to the Provincial Licensing Authority and the National Gambling Board.
  3. You will be excluded from all gambling activities for a minimum period of 6 months .
  4. During this time, you are encouraged to seek counselling through the NRGP (0800 006 008). The counselling sessions are free .
  5. If you breach your exclusion by entering a casino, you may be charged with trespassing .
  6. After six months, you may petition to have the exclusion lifted, but only if you can prove you attended counselling sessions .

Software Blockers

Technology can help you block access to online gambling sites and apps :

  • Betblocker: Free software that blocks gambling websites across all your devices. https://betblocker.org/
  • Gamban: Subscription-based blocking software. https://gamban.com/

For Family and Friends

If you are concerned about someone else's gambling, help is also available. You can call the NRGP helpline (0800 006 008) for advice and support .

Protecting Young People

Gambling by persons under the age of 18 is illegal in South Africa . Parents are urged to monitor their children's online activity, as minors are increasingly accessing illegal gambling sites using their parents' identity documents .
